Marine Patch
Marine patch 🌊
An ocean cleanup-themed 2D game prototype built with Godot 3.
📖 About The Project
This project was originally conceptualized and developed for the SEAJAM - #TeamSeas Game Jam in late 2021. The core gameplay revolves around cleaning up the ocean, aligning with the global #TeamSeas initiative to remove trash from our marine ecosystems.
🕹️ The Backstory & The "Devpark" Era
This game holds a special place in my development journey. I started building this at age 14, right around the time the Team Seas initiative kicked off.
At the time, I was so incredibly interested in game development that I created a dedicated YouTube channel and online identity called devpark. Marine-patch was initially developed under this alias before I eventually moved it to my current main profile. This transition is actually why version control for the project only started right in the middle of development!
It wasn't a smooth ride—my PC couldn't run OpenGL properly, which meant I couldn't open the game engine locally. To get around this massive hardware hurdle, a friend helped me compile a web version of the Godot Editor itself using Emscripten. I ended up developing the game entirely through a browser-based version of the engine!
Because of these extreme hardware limitations and ongoing PC problems, I missed the official jam submission deadline, and ultimately, the game was never fully completed. Despite being unfinished, it stands as a huge learning experience and a testament to early developer grit.
